Terms of Use — Find My Lawyer
Version 1.0 — Effective 27 August 2026
Find My Lawyer (findmylawyer.uk) is operated by LAIS Technologies Limited (company no. 17404115, registered in England and Wales), registered office 124 City Road, London EC1V 2NX ("we", "us"). Contact: support@findmylawyer.uk.
1. What Find My Lawyer is — and is not
Find My Lawyer helps you describe your legal problem and connects you with independent, regulated legal professionals — such as solicitors, barristers and advocates — who may be able to help. We are not a law firm, we do not provide legal advice, and we are not regulated by any legal-services regulator. The lawyers on the platform are independent professionals, regulated by their own UK legal regulator; they are not our employees, partners or agents.
Our AI assistant helps you structure your case and prepare a summary. Nothing the AI assistant says is legal advice, and you should not rely on it as such. Only a lawyer you instruct can advise you.
2. The service is free for clients
Using Find My Lawyer costs you nothing. We never take any share of what you pay a lawyer, and we do not handle money on a lawyer's behalf. Anything you agree to pay a lawyer is agreed and paid directly between you and them, outside the platform.
3. Your account
You must be 18 or over. You agree to give accurate information, keep your login details secure, and use one account only. You are responsible for activity on your account. Our Privacy Policy (findmylawyer.uk/privacy) explains how we handle your information, including the explicit consent we ask for before the AI interview.
4. How the platform works
You describe your matter to the AI assistant, review the case summary it produces, and approve an anonymised version before it is shared. The anonymised summary is shown to verified lawyers; those interested in helping can respond. You choose — you see every interested lawyer, and you decide whom to talk to, meet, and instruct. We do not choose for you, and lawyers who express interest are shown to you ranked by how well they match your case.
Consultations arranged through the platform are between you and the lawyer. Whether a lawyer takes your case, and on what terms, is entirely their decision and yours.
5. Your relationship with a lawyer is direct
If you instruct a lawyer, your agreement is with them (or their firm) — we are not a party to it. Their professional obligations, terms of engagement, fees, identity checks and complaint procedures are theirs. If something goes wrong with a lawyer's service, your remedies lie against the lawyer, through their firm's complaints procedure and, depending on where they practise, the Legal Ombudsman, the Scottish Legal Complaints Commission, or their regulator. We verify that lawyers on the platform are registered with a UK legal regulator, and we check profiles against the regulator's public register where one is published — but we do not endorse, recommend or guarantee any lawyer, their availability, or the quality or outcome of their work.
6. What you agree not to do
Use the platform only for genuinely seeking legal help for yourself. Do not: post false or misleading information; use the platform for anything unlawful; harass or abuse lawyers or our staff; attempt to identify other users; probe, attack, or interfere with the platform's security or operation; or scrape or copy platform content. Please avoid naming other people or giving exact addresses in your case description — the AI will not ask you to, and it helps keep everyone's information safe.
7. Reviews
You may review a lawyer only after genuine engagement with them through the platform. Reviews must be honest and lawful. We may moderate, and remove reviews that are unlawful, abusive, or unrelated to the engagement.
8. The AI assistant and your summaries
AI-generated content can contain errors or omissions. That is why you review your case summary, and approve the anonymised version, before anything is shared — please check them carefully. If you edit your summary after sharing, the updated anonymised version is re-shared only after you review it. If anything in an anonymised summary still feels identifying, use the flag option and it will be redrafted.
9. Our responsibility to you
We provide the platform with reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for: the acts, omissions, advice or conduct of any lawyer; a lawyer declining or discontinuing your matter; the accuracy of information lawyers provide about themselves beyond the regulator checks we describe; or events outside our reasonable control. We do not exclude or limit our liability where it would be unlawful to do so — including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or fraud. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
10. Suspension and closure
We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, misuses the platform, or creates risk for other users — telling you why unless the law prevents it. You can stop using the platform at any time and ask us to delete your account by emailing support@findmylawyer.uk (see the Privacy Policy for what deletion involves).
11. Changes to the service and these terms
The platform will evolve. We may change these terms; for changes that materially affect you we will give at least 14 days' notice by email or in the app, and each version is numbered and dated. If you continue using the platform after a change takes effect, the new terms apply.
12. General
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction (if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings in your local courts). If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest still applies.
